Social media image resizer
Resize and crop one image for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, WhatsApp and Pinterest. Your image is never uploaded.
Your image stays on your device.
What this resizer does
Every platform shows images in its own shapes, and an image in the wrong shape can lose someone's head or your logo when it's cropped. Upload one image, pick where it's going, adjust the crop, and download a copy at the right size. You can make versions for several platforms from the same photo.
The resizing happens in your browser, so your image isn't uploaded to our server.
Sizes included
| Use | Pixels | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram portrait post | 1080 × 1350 | 4:5 |
| Square post | 1080 × 1080 | 1:1 |
| Stories, Reels and Shorts covers, WhatsApp Status | 1080 × 1920 | 9:16 |
| Link images and website share images | 1200 × 630 | About 1.91:1 |
| LinkedIn link or landscape post | 1200 × 627 | About 1.91:1 |
| X landscape post | 1600 × 900 | 16:9 |
| YouTube thumbnail | 1280 × 720 | 16:9 |
| Pinterest Pin | 1000 × 1500 | 2:3 |
These are widely used sizes, not official requirements, and platforms change their layouts over time. YouTube's help page, for example, recommends a 16:9 shape for video thumbnails. Before an important launch, preview your image in the app or scheduling tool.
Crop or fit?
Crop to fill makes the image cover the whole frame, which looks more natural for photos. Use the two sliders to keep the important part in view. Show the whole image keeps everything visible and fills the gaps with a colour, which is often better for logos, posters and text-heavy graphics.
Tips for sharper social images
- Start big. The tool warns you if it had to enlarge your image, because enlarged images can look soft.
- Keep key content near the centre. Apps can overlay buttons and captions, and grids may crop the edges.
- Use PNG for text and logos. JPG is usually better and smaller for photos.
- Keep text large. Most people will see it on a phone, so check it at phone size.
Where to go next
If you use an image on your website, shrink it with our image compressor. For share images, our guide to why links look broken on WhatsApp and LinkedIn shows how to set them up, and the link preview check tests the result.
