WhatsApp link and QR code generator
Create a wa.me chat link with a ready-to-send message, and download a QR code for your shop, flyers or packaging.
What this tool does
It turns your phone number into a link that opens a WhatsApp chat with you, without the customer saving your number first. You can add a message that appears ready to send, and download a QR code for printed material. WhatsApp calls this feature click to chat, and the link format is wa.me/ followed by your full number with the country code.
Everything happens in your browser. Your number and message are not sent to our server, and we don't store them.
How to use it
- Pick your country code and type your number. Spaces and a leading zero are removed for you.
- Add a short message, or start from one of the templates.
- Press Test the link and check that the chat opens with the right number and message.
- Copy the link, or download the QR code.
Leave the number empty if you only want a message people can forward. The link then asks them to choose a contact, which suits referral requests and event invitations.
Where the link works well
- Instagram and Facebook bios: a direct route to a conversation for people who won't fill in a form.
- Shop counters, packaging and flyers: print the QR code so customers can scan it and message you straight away.
- Your website: paste the button code on your contact or pricing page.
- Google Business Profile and email signatures: anywhere a phone number alone would make people do extra work.
Example
A salon in Pune with the made-up number 98765 43210 wants customers to ask for a slot. With the message "Hi, I'd like to book an appointment", the link becomes:
https://wa.me/919876543210?text=Hi%2C%20I'd%20like%20to%20book%20an%20appointment
The odd-looking %20 parts are just spaces written in a form that links can carry. The customer sees normal text in WhatsApp and only has to press send.
Tips before you print anything
- Test with a second phone. Scan the QR code from the printed proof, not only from your screen.
- Keep the message short. Longer messages make denser QR codes that are harder to scan at small sizes.
- Print it large enough. About 2 cm to 3 cm square is a sensible minimum for a code scanned up close. Go bigger on posters read from further away.
- Use a number you will keep. The QR code holds the link itself, so it doesn't expire, but changing your number means printing a new code.
- Tailor the message by source. "Hi, I saw your flyer" tells you which placement brought the enquiry.
The link only opens a chat. It doesn't send anything by itself, and it works with both regular WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business accounts. See WhatsApp's click to chat help page for its own instructions. This tool is independent and isn't affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta.
